Christ College

Christ College serves the mission of ILT by preparing undergraduate students to answer God’s call for service to the neighbor in the family, society, and church through educational programs which preserve, promote, and propagate the classical Christian tradition from a Lutheran perspective.

Student Services

The Institute of Lutheran Theology exists to preserve, promote, and propagate the classical Christian tradition from a Lutheran perspective. With its components such as academic coaching, the library, and more, Student Services acts as the scholarly foundation for the work of our students and faculty as well as the theological endeavors of the Institute.

ILT Press/Publishing

The ILT Press is committed to bringing the classical Christian tradition into conversation with the issues confronting the Church in the world today.

In fulfillment of its mission and convictions, ILT shall establish and support academic centers dedicated to strengthening the life, ministry, and witness of the Church, with particular attention to congregational revitalization and renewal rooted in the theology of Luther and the broader Reformation in conversation with the wider Reformational heritage.

ILT provides degree programs through an online learning environment that supports participation by students and faculty across multiple regions. This model allows students to pursue academic credentials while remaining engaged in employment, ministry, and community commitments. Institutional data regarding enrollment, retention, graduation, student outcomes, and other key measures are provided on the Christ School of theology and Christ College sites.

The Institute of Lutheran Theology has fully-credentialed faculty members and a complete staff to serve students and faculty. The Institute provides a quality theological education equal or superior to that of any graduate seminary. The Institute of Lutheran Theology has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Association for Biblical Higher Education to grant degrees at the Master’s and Doctoral levels.

The ABHE Commission on Accreditation’s recognition with the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) includes certificates, diplomas, associate, baccalaureate, and graduate degrees, including doctoral degrees. The Commission’s scope of recognition with the U.S. Department of Education does not include doctoral education.

Christ School of Theology of the Institute of Lutheran Theology is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of The Association of Theological Schools (www.ats.edu) and is approved to offer the following degrees Master of Divinity, Master of Arts (academic), Master of Ministry (professional), Master of Chaplain Ministries (professional), Master of Sacred Theology, Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Philosophy*.

*In June 2024, the ATS Board of Commissioners approved the seminary’s PhD and approved a five-year experiment to offer this degree through a reduced residency of synchronous online courses.
